Should We Learn It, Or Should We Not? By Sara Kempf

Modern Technology VS. Handwritten Cursive
I have been writing in print for over 9 years and I haven't had one problem with it. Why would we need to learn a fancy handwriting? It's only more work. The importance of writing is not how fancy it is, it's how neat and understandable it is.

When it comes to teachers asking us to write a complete essay in cursive, typed or handwritten, I'm pretty sure the students have tendency to type it with a fancy-crooked font. It's very rare that we will see a student actually write his or her essay in cursive handwriting. Writing instead of typing is just so much work for nothing. So why complicate your life even more? You shouldn't even 'write' an essay, it should be typed, black on white. Next time you know what you should do: Type it- it's way easier.

If you can read and write, you can do anything with the letters and create new words. I think this is why the majority of elementary schools stopped teaching cursive writing. I know this because when I was in elementary school we used to practice cursive but after a while the teacher just stopped giving us the lesson. We would be writing and reading instead. Later on, you're going to be writing with a neat handwriting print, I guarantee you. The more you get the hang of writing, your hand will be making twirls in between letters, and the next thing you know you're writing in cursive without learning how. You don't have to learn it to do it. It will directly come to you, naturally.

What do cursive help you do? Write better? No, I don't think so. It's an extra handwriting that we don't have to learn how to write it. Sure thing, in 20 years from now, we might write in cursive, since we'll be getting older our writing and vocabulary will evolve. Although computers will always be there and it will evolve too.

So what would you do if you saw a pen and paper on the right, and a computer on the left with a blank page and a fancy font waiting for you? I'm 100% you will be choosing the left side since you won't get cramps in your hands for writing for hours in cursive, don't you? Like people say: Choose the easy way!

Technology Crisis! By: Jade Dupuis

Of course technology is extremely important for research's and discoveries, but what about the social aspect of it? Modern culture is ruining our generation and generations to come because it causes trouble, it takes away social life, and hides true identities.

Firstly, modern culture causes trouble in numerous ways, but the most important one would be bullying. People do not even have the courage to intimidate other people face to face, instead they hide behind their electronic device. Hiding, this leads to an other problem. Teens are so used to interact with text messages that when it is time to talk to someone or are faced with a problem , they do not even know what to do. Now, of course there are a lot more but those would probably be the most important ones.

Secondly, it ruins the social life of teenagers. Ever heard your parents say: " when I was your age, we would...." of course you have, and they are totally right! Our parents used to go outside all the time and play a sport or a game with their friends. Now , teens are simply isolated from all this and are constantly on their electronic devices as if life depended on it.

Thirdly, it hides true identities. Yes, it has become that bad! Some people become so addicted that it's as if they are not even in the real world, they are somehow creating a virtual life by hiding behind some screen. This suddenly becomes their life, and once they are drained into it, it's very hard to stop.

In conclusion, modern technology is ruining our generation and many more to come since it creates
trouble, it takes away social life, and it hides identities. It's not ruining us entirely but we need to do something before it's too late!
