Is Cursive Writing Necessary? By William Tuppert

Hi, my name is William...
Hi, my name is William...

Which one is easier to read? Cursive writing shouldn't be taught in any primary schools. Cursive writing also known as joined-up writing or running writing is letters joined up in
order to make writing  easier and faster and a word one single complex stroke. It shouldn't be used because it is a waste of time, people have a different type of cursive which makes it hard to understand and cursive is slowly disappearing.

To begin with, teaching Math, French, English is more important than cursive writing. This is why It is a waste of time. Students often struggle and take time to adopt the flow. This wasted time should be used to teach other subjects such as Math, English and French. It took my class in 6th grade 1 year to learn cursive writing and some still couldn't write properly. Putting into account that I learned cursive writing 3 years ago, today I have difficulty writing properly and remembering each letter in cursive. Unfortunately, this isn't only me that has this problem so if more and more kids forget how to write it than why are we teaching it?

Secondly, everybody learned cursive differently which makes the writing differnet for everyone. So what if someone misunderstands a word this could create a conflict with the letter sent by anybody. What if I receive a letter from anybody writtin in cursive and the writting isn't clear what am I supposed to do? What if the letter was important but In can't read it? Everything should be writtin or asked to be writtin in simple letters because some people won't be able to write properly or will struggle. Simple letters is simple clean, and neat. Pretty much is able to write and read it.

Lastely, cursive writing is rarely seen. Newpapers, do not use cursive writing because simple letters is familiar for everyone. Students who have school workbooks, textbooks, are all using simple letters. since it is rarely used, primary schools should not teach cursive writing, Facebook, television, media in general is not using cursive writting because it's slowly disapearing. If it's slowly disapearing then what is the utility of learning it? The media is everywhere so people are used to see simple letters ans kids are exposed to media everyday and no cursive writing is seen.

In conclusion, cursive writing should not be taught in primary schools. It is a waste of time, people have different ways to write which makes it hard to read and it is gradually disapearing. Now look around do you see any cursive writing? That's right, than why are we teaching we teaching them how to write it?

To Ban Or Not To Ban By Maude Cormier

Recently, I babysat my neighbor's youngster. He is only eight years old and  had approximately 70 minutes of homework. He shouldn't have to do that much homework, he should be playing outside. To much homework doesn't help elementary students learn better. Elementary schools in Canada should give less homework, because it is to much work for a child, homework will overwhelm the students and will stress them out.

To begin with to much information for a young child's brain isn't good for them. When the kids come home from school they don't have any concentration left because they used it all up at school. Kids should go out and play instead of getting their brains fried by work. Having worked all day and coming back home with work is counterproductive. Margeret Morrissey says ''while we're making six, seven and eight-years-olds do extra work, in some countries they wouldn't even have started formal schooling.'' Banning homework in elementary schools won't make the students stupid, but might help might help them be even more concentrated the next day, since homework won't have taken all evening. That means they could go to sleep earlier. Why not ban homework? In Canada, there are already some schools that have banned homework. So why shouldn't all elementary schools ban homework? It won't hurt anyone!

Secondly, homework should be shipped away to an other country, because it overwhelms student's and adds pressure. Kids evenings are hijacked with homework. I remember when I was in elementary and I was struggling with unclear homework, my mother would try to help but it would always end up with me and he arguing which caused a stressful environment. Homework should be banned because of the stress it causes to the young innocent brains. Why should teachers give homework to confused minds? Homework will only increase the stress and decrease school grades. Come on teachers, be wise and realize, that homework only makes things worse.

With this in mind, homework in Canada does not help elementary students learn more. This is because homework is to much work for a child. Also it puts young students under to much stress at home and at school. How can they be the best if they're under too much stress?
