Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or threat. Did you already feel this emotion? The global meaning of this quote is how we are personally in life. The quote has many qualities like humans do. The meaning of the line "It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." is that it's our strengths not our weaknesses that most frightens us in life. When I read this line, I have the image of someone standing in the dark with a light in the corner. It makes me think that the darkness means the bad side the "weaknesses" and the light means the good side the "stengths". This is the global meaning of the quote and the meaning of the line that caught to my eye.
This year our class will be working a lot with iPads. Each term students will post some of their written work - reflections, short stories, poems, critiques! We hope that you will follow-us this year!

Our Strengths Frightens Us by Melyssa Merner

Your True Face; by Olivia Julien

"Its our light not our darkness that most frightens us", a great line from a quote I read. This is a great line that helps you understand the meaning of everyone's real fear. Could you imagine a world where nobody shows their real side and only their fake side? Sadly, this is our world. Everyone is scared of showing their strengths, by fear of being juged. Everyone is scared of showing their "light" because they dont have enough self-esteem and they feel that they will be the only ones showing their "light", this makes me think back to the quote that I read. At the end of the quote is says "as we let our own light shine we uncounciously give others permission to do the same" and this explains my first quote. Everyone is scared to show their light and to be different, because nobody has been the first one to be "the change". Be the change in the world and you will allow others to do the same. This quote makes me think about an image of someone blinded by light. This image links back to the quote because the person is scared of the light in front on him, because he was in the darkness his whole life.

Our Deepest Fear: By Anthony-James
What
is our deepest fear, our fears are different then other people’s fears. Like
some people have “Arak-phobia” witch is a fear of bugs, more precisely a spider
fear. Others fear “Terrorism” witch is a fear of terrorist and what they could
do like, ex: 9/11 or France Stadium that exploded a few days ago. Actually our
deepest common fear is not that we are not good enough, our deepest fear is
that we are powerful beyond measure (Williamson ). This quote means that we are not actually
scared of being different we are scared of being more superior then others.
Our fears are the only thing that stop us
from accomplishing our dreams, our fears and our choices that we make in life
make us who and what we are today… human. When I close my eyes the first thing that
comes to mind is the quote, I think about high school students who are scared
to show themselves because they might get judged by others. Would you rather face your fear or be
human. If you face your fears then you might think
about what could happen if you do, ex: losing your humanity by going over the
human limit, ex: knowing too much or being superior then others. If you decide to be human then you will do
the right choice like what a human would do but sometimes humanity cant save
you and your choices will maybe have impact on you or you could maybe get
concurred by your own fears and you will probably never know what is out there
in the universe or on earth because you will be to scared to see it or even try
it.
So what would you do?
Your Deepest Fear May be Your Talent by James H-P
Never giving up and staying who you are is a big key to success. This quote called Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson has a strong meaning and especially for people who think about giving up. You are the only one who can really make a change in your life. There is a line in this quote that really marks me and makes me think about a famous hockey player named Wayne Gretzky. The line in this quote goes like this "Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyong measures." I see this quote as it is saying that we are not scared not to be good enough but that we are scared to be better than the average. All teenagers can connect to this line because we teenagers all have something that we do that is really outstanding. While rereading this specific in rhe quote I can see a picture of Wayne Gretzky who is the best hockey player and that has 56 records to his name. Having a fear is normal but having a fear to be to good is what everybody needs and also never should we give up because it is the key to success, and it will keep you having your head up.
Our Strengh by; Shawn Dube

In Marianne Williamson's quote Our Deepest Fear, she explains that it's important to show your strengthens to others. Most teens hide their strengths sometimes, because they're afraid or being judged or worse not fitting in. This is what Williamson means when she says: "It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." Our strengths are the things that we're good at. If we could just drop our fears, we could use our light (strengths) to accomplish our goals. In my opinion, everyone has something they are good at and things that they need to work on. For example, I'm good at math and some sports like football. But, I have some challenges with my French class, because I'd rather throw my books like a football, then read them. Not being good, or actually being good at something shouldn't make us afraid to be ourselves. Williamson's quotes makes me want to show my strengths not hide them. At the same time, work or my weaknesses so it can one day become a possible strength. By choosing to shine my light, I'm giving other people permission to do the same. So, why do the same and don't be afraid to shine!

Our Deepest Fear is one of those quotes that has more then one meaning to it. but there is the global meaning. and the global meaning is that we should all ways be ourselves when it comes to life. to day, in this society, we play small so that others around us feel better about themselves. the line that comes to my mind in the quote every time i think of this quote is this line: ¨our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure¨. this line comes to mind because it represents me in a lot of ways. for example i do not know how strong i am at school because I never put a lot of effort in to it. a image that comes to my head when i think of this line is a little boy that is trying out for hockey but he does not know if he is any good or not.i found that the quote was quote that every one should; not only read but understand what it means.

Do what you like and do what you are good at, don't stop practicing your talents because you are scared of people judging you.
The quote our deepest fear means you should be who you are and not what people want you to be and if you be yourself people will notice and change, they will start being themselves.
Don't change something about you that you like just because someone told you to.
You are who you are and nobody can change that. The line that struck out the most to me was « it is our light, not our darkness that most
frightens us», it struck out the most to me because i find this very true.
It means that you are more scared of what you are good at than you are bad at because you are scared of people criticizing you.
I find that this is a really good quote because a lot of people can relate to it, a lot of people are scared to show what they are good at because they are scared of other people judging them.

There is a story about a little girl who loved going to school. She woke up every morning eager to go learn new things. Her friends, however, did not like going to school. The little girl therefore hid her passion because she was afraid of what her friends might think. The quote Our Deepest Fear written by Marianne Williamson explains how people are afraid of being themselves and to use their strengths because of what others might think. This is a very underexposed reality that deserves to be heard by everyone. One of the most powerful lines in the quote goes as follows: "It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." This line is by far the most important one in the quote because it really explains what the quote is about. If you replace the words light and darkness by strengths and weaknesses respectively, you get a very powerful message. This message relates to my selected picture because when superman is not saving the world, he is disguised behind a persona known as Clark Kent. Superman disguises himself as Clark because he wants to be treated as a normal person and not some superhero who is treated differently from other people. This perfectly reflects the whole idea of the quote. People are afraid of showing who they really are because of how people would perceive them. People should not be afraid of being true to themselves. In fact, people should embrace their strengths and let others do them same. Next time you go out there, embrace who you are and encourage people to do the same. Who knows, you will probably live a happier life that way!

What is our deepest fear, Marianne Williamson once said "it is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." This quote can mean a lot, but mostly mean, that people are constantly hiding who they really are. They are scared of being judge, being different. There is more than one fear, for example being scared of insects or the incident that just happened in France. This can also connect with the global meaning is mostly doing your best, being who you really are, not hide all your potential to be like others. Some people hide who they are, to feel included being like other people. They are scared of being different but being different is not a bad thing everyone is different in there own way. For example in the quote the last sentence said if you are not who you are there are people around you that are hiding them self too, but when you show who you are others will do the same. When I think of the quote the picture that comes to my mind is a shadow. One person being in colour and other in the shadow of themselves. One people showing who they are and standing out there own way. This is a very powerful quotes but you need to look at it carefully to understand and maybe find yourself in that quote.

Our Unfairly Concealed Beauty: Melanie Lachance

Many people in the world believe that their weaknesses are the cause of their deepest fear. What they are unaware of however,
is that the thing that scares us the most is actually the act of expressing our uniquenesses. In the quote titled «Our Deepest Fear», written by Marianne
Williamson, these statements characterize its global meaning; which is that we
shouldn’t be afraid to express who we are. We all have strengths and
weaknesses. Unfortunately, most of the time we feel the need to hide the best elements of
our personality. Our beauty is what we fear the most because we are afraid of
making others feel unworthy. The quote consists of a saying from Marianne
Williamson, explaining that there is nothing good about hiding the finest parts
of yourself to protect people around you from feeling insecure. In reality, we
all have the right to let our beauty be seen. These diverse qualities in everyone should be appreciated,
and not hidden because "Your playing small does not serve the world."(Williamson).
This line from the quote really connected to a realization I had as a child. It
refers to the fact that a person is not improving society by hiding their
potential inside themselves that could be shining bright. I connect to this
because I used to try to fail in school as a young child in order to escape
being myself. I was scared that others around me would become jealous. I later
on realized that playing small prevented me from discovering
all of my capabilities. Society's branded social groups unfairly define what
should and shouldn't be accepted. Other teenagers relate to this as well, since
most of us feel the need to hide our greatnesses. The truthfulness about these
aspects of life is well demonstrated in a particular image where a girl is
holding a mask displaying a symbol of inner light restraint. She is hiding
behind the image of herself perceived by society. The fear she
carries to withhold her full personality isn't serving the world, as nobody can
actually realize her potentially hidden life-changing qualities. This signifies
that we should never under any circumstances; shrink ourselves down to anything
less than who we are, because we are all perfectly different. Nobody should be
afraid to reveal their true selves to society.

The impact of a life shaping quote: By David Ishaq
The impact of a life shaping quote

As we know, quotes shape our opinion, actions as well as the way we interact with our surrounding but this specific quote impacts a mindset due to its meaning and far out connections it establishes. This small paragraph shows to all the way you are socially seen in relation of your influenced mentality. The global meaning this text demonstrates are the consequences we have on our surrounding that are caused in two extroversive categories, showing our light and our darkness. The advantage of shining or perhaps, showing a positive image of yourself results in you giving axes to your surrounding (friend, family, enemies, etc…) to not only see your brightness but to somehow do the same o their side. From knowing the meaning, we can look in deatail the positive initial impact this quote has on the reader. A line in this text that has impacted me the most as the reader is the following, ‘’There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you.’’ This line cannot be better said. It shows everyone including you the benefits of being sincere about your emotions and opinions. We clearly see tht by being your fake self (your influenced mindset), you are not being beneficial for yourself but you are simply giving others the permission to underestimate your intelligence and potential. I like to relate this statement to a very plain simple picture of Mahatma Gandhi. What is significant in this picture is the dedication he had for his ideas. Gandhi’s life follows the same rules the poem stated in all its lines. He wasn’t scared of ridicule, he stood up for his nation and said his opinion’s as clear as they were in his mind. By doing so, Gandhi gave others the opportunity to realize the social problems befor 1947 but as well as to give others axes to his world vision and strength’s. We clearly see by this man’s story that being yourself makes people around you feel secure. Gandhi’s strength range from being a good public speaker to dedication where he used this in a constructive way. The change he has made wouldn’t have happened if he wouldn’t have shown his own mentality.
By reading this quote you can do the same as what Mahatma
Gandhi did, you only have to be yourself to be the cause of your change. (Be the change you want to see in the world)!!!

Quotes were used centuries ago,the quote written by Marianne Williamson is one of a kind, attractive quote. There is a direct point and clearly says the main objective of this quote. As an example, the sentence "it is not in some of us,it is in everyone" makes me think of different people around the world helping each other and aging many points in common, which could be anything. I've chosen the line because in my opinion it will help people to reach their goal or objective. It can also help people not to be afraid of other people or things and that being scared is a fear that many people have.

The One and Only Meaning: Sam R.
Most quotes are based on one meaning, which the goal is to find that meaningfull phrase. But in the quote "our deepest fear", written by Marianne Williamson, the goal is to find the perfect meaning, among all the others because this quote is a meaningfull piece of art that explains thousands of things at once.1.The meaning in this quote that can best be started is always give your 100% because the author Williamson said at repetitive times that you should always do your best because "We are all meant to shine", which means that everyone can make a change if they give their best in everything.2.My chosen line in this quote "your playing small does not serve the world" means that what you do affects others too because playing small doesn't help anyone. I can connect this easily to my life when my friends or my family want me to do something and I do the least I can, well it doesn't help them, so that would be me playing small. It's relevant that doing your best will create a change that will then help others. It connects to the meaning because everyone can do their best and not giving the less they can.3.I would chose an image illustrating someone, somehow giving his best and this will affect other
people, a community and that will then affect the world, globally. Our deepest fear, written by Marianne Williamson is a meaningfull quote that connects to alot of things at once and that can affect is mentally too, like giving your best, which many people do in reality.

Blogs are so Annoying; So Why are You Reading This? By: Félix Bouchard

"Blogging" is about sharing your thoughts on the internet, and obviously not all blogs are about happy thoughts. Many blogs are hateful. Bloggers hide behind computers to publicly bash on things. Sounds like Cyber bullying to me, but because it's a blog that makes it ok and funny. If people are offended all they can do is write a response, but the thing is that sticks and stones can hurt, but words can't.
As I've said blogs are about reading a someone's ideas, a little like having a conversation with someone. The thing is, thoughts aren't facts. Reading a blog is reading a stranger's opinion about something. This stranger could be a terrorist, a klan member or a prisoner brain washing people.
In conclusion, I believe that reading a stranger's opinion is ridiculous, the person on the other side of that computer might be a Taliban for all you know, and if he is a Taliban brainwashing everybody you can't do anything about it. Blogs are annoying because everybody talks about how great they are, but honestly; They are Useless.

Is Cursive Nessasary ?
Cursive is not only faster to write, but has benefits that go to the brain. Cursiveneeds to be taught! Cursive writing has so many advantages ! This is why it should be taught in every elementary school. I learn't cursive cursive in elementary school and it was VERY helpful!
Cursive develops the brain in a lot of positive ways. The development of the brain is very important and helpful. Science writer Maria Konnikova even says that " children not only learn to read more quickly when they first learn cursive but they also remain better at generating ideas and retaining information." In other words it's not only what we write that counts -- but how. I think this is a perfect example of one of the Benefits of cursive other than "it's faster". Psychologists discovered that cursive lights up three areas in the brain compared to when you type there is much less. Cursive is really an advantage to know how to write with, which is worth teaching in schools! It is definitely not a waste of time! We should ant to develop our brain the most we can.

Personally I have had many experiences with cursive and I know it's benificial. I've seen how cursive is helpful because I just recently learnt cursive and have really seen a difference, not only in the neatness of my handwriting but I can finally read my grandmothers birthday cards. Cursive writing compared to printing is more beneficial because the movement task is more demanding. The letters are less stereotypical , and the visual recognition requirements create a broader repertoire of letter representation. Cursive is more demanding for the brain therefor creates a challenge, this makes the brain used to challenges and that's why it should be taught.
To finish it all off cursive is important and should stay a known form of writing. Cursive challenges the brain therefor training it to become better. It also helps to develop the brain which everybody want, because the development of the brain is very important. Cursive should be brought back in all schools, so that's we can keep getting smarter!

Cheerleading: Sport or Activity? By Christopher Cusson
Every year, cheerleaders get concussions, break bones or even die. All this due to the lack of good staff and training. Cheerleading should be recognized as a sport. They do compétitions and contests, the cheerleaders are skillful and athletic. Also, by recognizing it as a sport, it would allow teams, or squads, to have good coaches and Equipment. I have a sister that did cheerleading, but she didn't have a specialized coach this year, so there is no cheerleading at her school this year.
First of all, many people say that cheerleading is not a sport, because they wear makeup, and say tey don't do much physical activity. These people don't even deserve to be taken in consideration, because makeup is part of the uniform, and the cheerleaders work so hard you can't imagine how strong they are.
Secondly, in the dictionary, sport is defined as "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess, and OFTEN of a competitive nature." The cheerleaders surely do have skills, and many squads do compete in events and contests. Some squads don't but, OFTEN they do. So why not call it a sport?
Lastly, by recognizing it as a sport, we are opening a doorway to sponsorships and the opportunity of having specialized coaches and staff at schools. This would allow the cheerleaders to have good coaching, and prevent them from getting injured during a stunt which they are not ready for, or need more practice on.
As you can see, there is no reason why cheerleading is not a sport, so this is why we should recognize it as a sport. The athlètes are skillful and the activity is competitive, but it also would prevent them from getting injured during practices or compétitions. Let's not wait for another cheerleader to break her neck or get a concussion, let's recognize the sport of cheerleading!
What Do You Think Is Annoying? By Xavier Simard
Are there things that annoy you? Do you want the annoying things to stop? Then make a complaint or write a blog about it.
I think everything is annoying. Teachers never stop talking and its always work work work, so I find them annoying. Sounds are annoying because you can't sleep or focus, and things like loud music can hurt your ears. People and sounds are annoying because lots of things like loud music or people talking non stop loudly, or parents or people yelling at each other makes me angry and makes want to go shut them up while trying to fix their problems, which I usually do for my family who yell at each other sometimes, this is one reason why sounds and people are annoying.
Are there things that annoy you? Like not understanding what a good friend of yours says or what he/she finds cool for example, or sounds or people that are annoying? Then you should tell them to stop or lower the sound, or ask your good friend to have him/her help you understand, you'll feel a lot better then taking out pent up anger and going into a short frenzy on them. Writings things that annoy you and posting it online can help release anger too (probably), and have people understand you better.
Are there things that annoy you? Do you want the annoying things to stop? Then make a complaint, write a blog about it, or do something about it. The 3 arguments I introduced are things I or other people also find annoying, like teachers, sounds, and people. I think if there was something that annoyed me, I'd make it stop, polite or not, or endure and ignore it.

What do you know about the world by Marc-Antoine Déry
What do you
think about getting about other people in the world ? 300 000
civilians are stuck in a rebel-held area in Aleppo, Syria, but did you knew it
it. In all most every part of the world tradgedie, sadness, luck, violance and
goodness are happening every day and all most 50% of the world don’t know about
it. At first Tony Maddox the executive vice president of CNN said that in only
3 mounth he full the year planning. Because that he found so muche vent in
other country. And because if we are inform of some tradgedie we could help solving them. ‘’This is the first time
when the judicious investment we’vemade in a proper international
infrastructure are paying off, ‘’ Mr.Maddox Said.
In this
world their is more n 50 country but more than 80% of the population don’t know
more than 30of them. Did you know that in china a 6 years old boy was crossing
a street and got hit by a car and no one was helping him. But every one were
walking beside him like if they didn’t saw anything. I persenelly don’t think
that this is even possible. I found strange that if you know that their is more
than 300 000 civilians that are stuck in a rebel city you don’t give your
best to help them out. And like Tony Maddox was saying there is so information
that need to be eart but no one cares about them. I found this sad for those people that cannot
get ear when they want to say some thing importent about something that they
found strange or sad.
Their is a
lot of country, city region that are mistreted by bid company and powerful
people. In soem country city are even controlled by company because they have
money. And what I think is the worst in thst situation is the fact that they
also control the pupolation of that city. In some country it’s even worst
because people are loosing their right’s becauser of those incomprensive act.
Like Tony Maddox was saying some time’s a simple act form an outside person or
group can save a situation. If you check out this link (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/21/business/media/21press.html?_r=0) you will see what i mean.We could
be in power to help them out but we are not informed of what is going on in the
world. I fin dit really stupid that because we are not informed we cannot help
other’s.
I think thet
it is stupid that some of us are stop to help other because they are not
informed enought. In conclusion some of us are mistreated all around the world
by companies and people with power. But becasue we are not informe about what
is going on in the world we can’t help them. 300 000 civilian are stuck in
a rebel-held area in Aleppo, Syria, but did you knew it.
