There is a story about a little girl who loved going to school. She woke up every morning eager to go learn new things. Her friends, however, did not like going to school. The little girl therefore hid her passion because she was afraid of what her friends might think. The quote Our Deepest Fear written by Marianne Williamson explains how people are afraid of being themselves and to use their strengths because of what others might think. This is a very underexposed reality that deserves to be heard by everyone. One of the most powerful lines in the quote goes as follows: "It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." This line is by far the most important one in the quote because it really explains what the quote is about. If you replace the words light and darkness by strengths and weaknesses respectively, you get a very powerful message. This message relates to my selected picture because when superman is not saving the world, he is disguised behind a persona known as Clark Kent. Superman disguises himself as Clark because he wants to be treated as a normal person and not some superhero who is treated differently from other people. This perfectly reflects the whole idea of the quote. People are afraid of showing who they really are because of how people would perceive them. People should not be afraid of being true to themselves. In fact, people should embrace their strengths and let others do them same. Next time you go out there, embrace who you are and encourage people to do the same. Who knows, you will probably live a happier life that way!
