Teens Voting Rights by Tommy Kilganon

Some teens from the age of 16 and 17 have been requesting the government to lower the voting age. The voting age should remain 18 because teens make more immature choices, they also don't typically care and the haven't learned enough through education and experience to make an adequate decision in politics.

If the voting age is lowered to 16, teens would be allow to vote. They wouldn't vote for what they think is better. Some sites have reported that teens would vote on what is cool and vote for a party without knowing what they are doing. It could result into a bad election that would ruin a province or a country. 18 is a sufficient age to take our own responsibilities and make decisions smart enough.

Another reason why the voting age shouldn't be lowered to 16 is that teenagers don't really care about the politics anyway. Besides, an immature 16-year-old may vote and elect a bad candidate who gets the teens vote with personal qualities. What would it do to lower the voting age to 16 if most teens don't care at all about the elections?

My final point, is that teenagers are still maturing. Researchers have shown the brains of young teens are not fully are not fully mature. So, they might not really comprehend what they are voting for which could cause consequences bad for the government. Lowering the age of voting is like putting our opinion into the hands of people who don't have yet the age to have a right judgment. It would be irresponsible to put the responsibility of adults into the hands of younger, and non-experiences people.

In conclusion, the government shouldn't lower the age of voting, It could inflict negative consequences on the government. Teens are too young for having the right to vote. They would vote for what is cool and not what is right. They don't really care about politics anyways, and they are still maturing and their brains aren't fully developed yet.
