Too Much Money Spend on Textbooks? By: Samuel Vallieres

Are you tired of having so much textbook in your bag andthat weights so much? Schools should replace textbooks by tablets. They should replace textbooks with tablet because textbook weight a lot more then tablets and it may cause injuries. Moreover, tablets have a lot more information and tablets may be more expensive then textbooks but they serve for all courses.

First of all, schools should replace textbooks with tablets because they are a lot lighter then textbooks. Many people have a lot of textbooks so the weight is multiplied with the number of textbooks. On the other hand, textbooks are for all the classes so they weight a lot less. On average, a textbook weights 3.5 pounds while a tablet weights on average 650 to 660 grams. Textbooks are very big, heavy and easy to forget in your locker or at home, meanwhile an ipad is impossible to forget because it is the only book you need to work. The books are so heavy that it may even cause back injuries. Furthermore, " In June 2012, 13,700 student had to go to the hospital and doctors offices because of backpack related injuries. 5,000 of those were in the emergency room" (debate.org). 

Secondly, schools should replace textbooks by tablets because they contain a lot more information then textbooks. A textbook contains a certain number of pages, so a certain number of information. On the other hand, tablets contains an infinite number of pages, so an a lot more information. It is also way more interactive for learning, student learn a lot more better with tablets rather then textbooks. In a textbook, you have a certain variety of topics and information meanwhile in a tablet you have all the topics you wish to research. Plus, a tablet has access to internet (wi-fi) so it can have a lot more information. It has more information and it is very
more quicker to search on the internet then to search a page in your textbook.

Lastly, schools should replace textbooks by tablets because they are they are more expansive then textbooks but they last longer. Tablets can have a higher price then textbooks but they last longer and are used for all the courses. For each courses you need a textbook, and a textbook is around 100 dollars. So imagine how it would cost with the number of textbooks you need. On the other hand a tablet is around 500 dollars but they are used for all the courses. So in the end, it is really cheaper to buy a tablet. Also a tablet is way cheaper because if the student takes care of them they can use them for all their schools years.

In conclusion, schools should replace textbooks with tablets. They should replace them because they weight a lot less then textbook, tablets have a lot more information and it is less expensive to buy tablets rather then textbooks.
