Colour Clash by Nicholas Gordon

Colour Clash is an annual event that happens on the third Friday of every September, it involves every student and categorizes them into random groups.  Although the aim of this is to encourage school spirit and meet new people, people mostly just spend the time to mess around with their friends, be they in your team or not.  I think, personally, that Colour Clash is a great idea to advertise and keep people at St. Pat's - and in my opinion, it works.  It's a great way to introduce new students to this school and for those new people to meet some friends.  Some people spend all day going to every activity, and running all the way chanting on their allies, while others just walk around with friends, lazily checking out some activities.  I like it a lot, it's a great way to relax and get to know some people better, and re-meet the people you saw last year.  Unfortunately, there's always events that no one wants to participate in, every year, so those who didn't volunteer for anything end up doing it.  Colour Clash has a few design flaws, but overall, anyone who attends enjoys the event thoroughly, even if they are not interested in the activity they had to do.  Everyone is encouraged to wear ridiculous accessories of their colour, like Leprechaun hats for green team, or morph suits.  At the end of the day, points earned from winning activities and having school spirit are tallied up and the winner is declared.  Every student I've encountered has thoroughly enjoyed Colour Clash.  Colour Clash is a staple event at St. Patrick's High School, and it's for a good reason!

Favorite sports moment by: Jade Dupuis

My favorite sports moment was when Georges St. Pierre, the welterweight UFC champion, won against Carlos Condit after his long recovery of a knee injury. He fought November 17th 2012 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. At the 5th round, GSP won by unanimous decision! It was such a relief when he won, because after being out for so long, I wasn't sure he would make the cut against Carlos Condit since he's a really good mixed martial artist. The reason why this was my favorite sports moment is really because of GSP since I'm a huge fan of him! To my eyes, he is the best UFC fighter in the welterweight division, and really deserves to be champion since he was only defeated twice. He fought and earned his place to the top and I  hope that he remains so on November 16th!

Hockey By Samuel Vallieres

October 28, 2013

Hockey is my true passion, hockey is the sport I am playing for 11 years now. When I play hockey it makes me real like I belong in this sport and not in any other sport. At the age of 3, I was on the ice with my dad who was learning me how to skate. He thought me how to skate and even how to play hockey. I am very thankful to my dad because in the weekends he would wake up at 5 o'clock to go the hockey practice when I was 4 or 5. If my dad would've not been there I would have never played hockey because it was my dad who made me start. My dad is always encouraging and will always support me. 3 years ago, my hockey team did a hockey tournament in Europe, I had so much pleasure and because of hockey it made me visit other countries. Hockey is my passion but I know I won't play in the NHL so I am not playing hockey for the competition but for fun and passion. I will play as long as I can but when it will be an obstacle for me in my study's I will stop and concentrate on school because school is as much important, it is rare a Québécois hockey player makes the NHL so you need to concentrate on school. Hockey has made me love sport and it made me improve a lot of my skills that I hadn't when I started, it can also keep in shape. I love hockey and I always will!

Mountain Biking, Sophianne Samson

Mountain biking is a sport. Mountain biking is my passion. It is what I like to do. This sport makes me feel free. It is where I can let my emotions out. The harder I train the better I'll perform and this is something I take into consideration. I am someone with high objectives. I want to win the Canadian Championships. I want to go to the Quebec Games. As a matter of fact, I am aware that these dreams and goals can only be attained by working hard. Nobody can have success if they don't deserve it. My parents have always been supportive in my sport. They saw me be discouraged. They saw me struggle on obstacles but their help, support and admiration have lead me to become the athlete I am today. An athlete filled with perseverance to strive for the top. My father always told me that you get what you work for and that you get honoured when you truly deserve it. During the past years, I discovered that he was right all along. In other words, many people have goals. Many people have dreams that seem unattainable. When you have the heart, perseverance and desire to achieve them, anything is possible. Anythings is truly possible!

Color Clash

It may have been a month since colour clash, but the event is still fresh in my mind.  This year it was a totally different experience. Since I joined the council, I was the one running the colour clash this year. At first, the fact that I wasn't part of a team disturbed me. I was actually pretty sad that I couldn't participate the same way as everyone. However, to my surprise I really enjoyed the experience of organizing the 2013 colour clash. I took care of the relay race and jello eating. It was pretty fun to see everybody enjoy themselves. I put my disappointment of not being in a normal team aside and instead, I was proud of being part of the student council team for I was a reason of the success. My 2013 colour clash was extremely fun and I look forward to being part of the student council team again.

Quarter final game tonight! Football Kyle Haddad

The St.Patricks fighting Irish are playing tonight against college st.Anne. There last game against college st.Anne we lost 63-53. It was a hell of a game ! Tonight we hope a great performance by our team to get a chance to go in final and get a 2nd championship in a row!

Fight Night at the Joe

In Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche, Claude Lemieux of the Avalanche hit Kris Draper from behind into the boards. Draper suffered a concussion, broken jaw, broken nose and a broken cheekbone. When I rewatch this hit, it makes me sick to my stomach. I find it to be one of the dirtiest things to do in the NHL. Because of this  hit, it caused a bitter rivalry between the two teams.

On March 26 the next season, Igor Larionov of the Red Wings got into a scrum with Peter Forsberg which gave tough guy Darren McCarthy a chance to strike back on Lemieux. He threw Lemieux and started a melee of punches before the linesmen could intervene. After the game, Darren McCarthy told reporters, "Hockey players have long memories". As I also watch this, i cheer every time I watch it. It excited me every time to see them brawl and its something I always love watching.

My Summer Vacation in Florida by Kim Gendron

This summer, my family and I went to Florida to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. It hadn't been the first time my family has flew to Florida in fact, it was our 6th time. We had visited the big tourist attractions such as Walt Disney, Sea world, Aquatica and Bush Gardens. Since my aunt has been liking over in Florida for about 10 years, we sent her on the task to find tourist attractions that are not too big but still as fun. When we arrived she had done her task, she had even made us a shedule for everyday! We spent 10 days in Florida and I cannot complain. My favorite place we went was Fun Spot many rides and go cart tracks were there and me and my brother actually made friends. We spent the entire day with them raceing and enjoying ourselves. I can say that this trip was the most exciting trip in florida. Altho our family lives far away, I would go visit them anyday, who would say no to hot weather and tanning!

Leadership Conference, Sandy Latour

 Wednesday October 2nd, 2013

I am currently outside the train station of Charny waiting for the train going to Gaspesie to arrive. Six students from St-Pats and I are forming a circle and we are talking about our expectations and wishes for the conference. I am really eager. I half-listen to the others talking while I am caught up in my eagerness. Will it be as hot as this over there? Will they give us a mattress to sleep on or will we sleep on the ground? The view will be amazing on our hike! Will the other students be sociable? All these questions ran through my mind as I nodded in agreement to what Eloise said.
It's the first time that Kim and Eloise take the train, so they are excited about that. It is my second experience, but I am still stressed out as the train starts moving that our wagon will detach itself from the rest of the train or that we will crash into a city or fly off a bridge. I have seen too much movies and have heard too many stories. I am sitting next to Kim on the right-side of the alley, where the seats are two by two. On the left-side of the alley, the rows are one by one. Eloise is sitting behind us with a very shy guy from Mclane Memorial, also going to the conference. Secondary five girls have come all the way from Gaspesie just to take the train back with us and make our trip more entertaining. They are giving us thread in order to make bravelets. They say it is some sort of tradition where they live to bring back bracelets from the places they have visited. They told us to make two bracelets each: one for ourselves, one for any student in the leadership who doesn't have a bracelet yet. The two girls also gave us rocks for us to write an encouraging word on.  I wrote determination on mine, since I need to finish the projects I start and stay motivated.
It is now quite late; close to 11:45. Sarah, a St-Pat student from secondary five, brought her guitar. She is playing and singing "The Scientists", by Cold Play. The girls in front of us, a teacher, a couple of other students who gathered around, Kim, Elo and I are signing to the rythm. It is quiet relaxing; all the stress from school and other stuff i can let go of. Tomorrow will be a good day.

Thursday October 3rd, 2013
This morning I was woken up at 5:20 in the morning since we were getting out of the train with our baggages to go in the school bus I am in now. A two hour drive to get to our final destination: cime adventures, our campsite. Someone took my sleeping bag -which was seperate from my baggage- or it got lost: we can not seem to find it! I hope we will, it is kind of important since we are sleeping outside tonight! I did not sleep very well last night, maybe because i was too excited or the fact that i had to sleep in sitting position. I'm happy we get to have a school bus for the two hour drive, i will get to sleep a little more actually laying down.
We have arrived, finally! Luckily, Ms. Klancar found my sleeping bag, someone had taken it thinking that it was theirs! There is Ms. Klancar, Ms. Shay, Mr. Poirier, and about fifteen students from St-Pats. There is so much people who have come from all over Quebec it is amazing! We must be, if not more, 400 teenagers. All of the students and teachers and volunteers are gathered in this big cafeteria that looks like a chalet, waiting for breakfast to be served. I am so hungry, it has been a long journey. When breakfast is finally served, everybody rushes to the kitchen counter to form a massive line of people. There is no point in waiting in line. Instead, we wait about half and hour for the line to be small enough to be worth it. This breakfast will surely be delicious.
Kim, Elo and I just came back from hiking! We could see from the top of the moutain seigneuries defined by their different shades of green. The contrast between the greens and the blue of the river was simply breath-taking. On our hike we made great friends from Queen Elizabeth School in Sept-Ile: Philippe, Nicolas, Alex and Mario. This experience was totally worth the leg aches.
The following experience, too, was quite something! I had to sleep outside, under an impermeable web in case of rain but nothing to protect me from the cold except a small fire. The students were divided equally in "nests" which were small rectagular deforested areas connected to a road which led to other similar nests. You had no choice but to meet new people since you did not necessarily sleep with people from your school. I was lucky to be in the same nest as Kim- Nest 6- while Elo was in an other nest further up the road from ours-Nest 13-. I slept beside a guy from Quebec High School. His name was Phil and he was just awesome! Kim and I talked with him until our eyes were closing by themselves. Today met, even surpassed, my expectations.

Friday October 4th, 2013
I am now in the train heading back home. I missed out of batteries this morning. I did not think i would use my ipod so much so i did not bring my charger. The theme of the whole conference was "unplugged", meaning unplugged from technology. So it was not the first thing i thought about bringing. There is this nice guy, JF, who was kind enough to lend his to me. Kim and I -Elo wanted to sleep so she took a seat alone- were in the VIP section since there was no more place on the wagons where the rest of the students are. Kim is in the two seats in front of me, and on the other side of the alley is JF - parrallel to Kim- and Jordan -parrallel to me-. All three seem to be sleeping, atleast they are trying too. It is understandable since it is 1:16 in the morning.
This is a short summary of what I did today. I woke up, had breakfast and then left off for the activity i had chosen with Elo: zoomba! We had a blast! Laughing at how bad I was was the best part of it. After that, the boys and girls were seperated. An Ameriandian women came to speak to us about loving each other and appreciating what we have. She also told us about her culture and spirituality. In the end, we invented a song to the beat of a drum which every single one of us had the chance to try. This song we later presented to the boys, and the boys presented to us what they had prepared: beatboxing. I also showed my dancing skills when the zoomba group was called up to perform the moves we had learned!
I will always remember the fun I had during this conference and the friends I made. It was most definitely one of the most outstanding two days of my life!

Have you even heard about the National Hockey League? If not, it is the league that the best hockey players in the world play in. I would really love to play in this league when I'll get older. Right now, I am practicing hockey alot. I am on the ice 5 times per week! I really love hockey because it makes me practice a lot of skills. Certainly in competitive hockey league which I play in. I play in a competitive hockey league, double letter league, that involves some dangerous checks if your head is not up. It is my cousin that helped my play hockey. He is now playing in the LHJMQ today for the Rimouski Oceanic. He would pass 1 hour almost every day to help me. I thank him a lot for this. This is the logo of which I play in.

Concussion - Ludvic Girard

Whether it's in football, soccer, rugby or any other sport the concussion rate has increased a lot.  Not only is it dangerouse, it is the impact in the future for the person who has suffered from it.  For example, I have suffered from a couple of concussions myself and every time I come to do a hit in football my head sometimes sometimes hurts due to this.  In the present day, some parents don't want their children to play contact sports because of all those concussions.  Their are a lot of research being done to show how dangerous a concussion can be.  It can even have long term effects on the brain.  This is a message to all athletes who have suffered from a concussion to be more aware and how dangerous it can be.

"Sports" by Markus Pienitz

My favourite sport event is the Stanley Cup Playoffs including the big Stanley Cup Final. I really love this event because it is very exciting and fun to watch. I always watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs with my family which makes it even more fun, when we all cheer together. This is an event where people that are cheering for the same team gather with each other and have fun with each other. For example, having big parties to watch the games. There are a lot of people that are really attached to the team they are cheering for so of course if the team looses a lot you will have feelings for it. When your team looses you might be so sad you could cry at some times if the team always has bad luck.

Color clash 2014: Audrey de Varennes

Color clash, a day were everyone from st.pats comes together and cheers on their team. This year I was in the student council, that meant that I was organizing the activities instead of being with a color and doing the activities, and I loved it. The activities that I was in charge of were balloon toss and messy marshmallow. It was exquisite seeing everyone cheering their color and working as a team. It's times like this were u see that st.pat's has true team spirit. I was also a judge during mr and miss fashionista. In the end, the aqua team was first, lime was second and white was third. But the true winners of the day were lime first, yellow second and white third. It was a wonderful day that st.pat's and I will never forget.

"Sports" by Brian O'Farrell

My favourite sports moment is when I went to the Pee-Wee du Carnaval because I always wanted to experience what the pro hockey players experience.Even though we lost it was a great opportunity for me and it is a tournament that my team and I worked very hard to get to. This sport event had a big influence on the member on my team because we never would have reached this goal if we didn't work together and we considered ourself as a family. It also affected me emotionally because we loss and we would have liked to get farther in the tournament.

Favorite Sport by Vincent.F

My favorite sport is football. One of the reasons why it's my favorite sport is because you work in teams. You can help each other out and there is a position for everybody. Everybody helps each other and when you need help you may ask a player or a coach to help. It has been 3 years now I play football and I am into it more each year. We have won a final last year and I wish we can win it again this year.

Education Is a Light In The Dark By: Sarah Stumpf

What happens when there is light in a dark room? You see what is around you; you open your eyes to your surroundings.  Learning things is like a light bulb- once it is turned on, you can see the world with different eyes.  Education can create an awareness and can be that light.  It makes you aware of the world without you knowing it.  Learning isn't necessarily done at school, it can be done anywhere!  You actually learn atleast a new fact every day- imagine after a year when you learn 365 facts!  Incredible!  The teenagers of this generation  are quite active on the media where more than a thousand facts can be learned just in your everyday life!  And hopefully just by reading this, you are learning a new thing! Enjoy!

2013 Chicago Blackhawks Parade. By William David-Tremblay

My favourite sports moment that I have been part of was when me and the st. Patrick's fighting Irish hockey team won the silver medal. It was in the play offs in the finals of the CQSB league. It was the first time in st. Patrick's high school that a hockey team went that far in play offs. In the finals we lost 9-2 because we hadn't played well. But we had won almost all our regular season games and we had 10 wins and 1 lose in the season. We had a really good team that year we always won 15-0,13-1,10-0 etc…. But the school didn't seem like they cared because we had to go to the front office to tell them that we finished first and won silver. This is because the school is mostly for football and basketball. Everybody in the team thinks that, that sucks because we worked really hard to try winning gold or even just win a medal.

Trey Burke's Amazing Shot By Samuel Fiset http://youtu.be/A9Fqe_kacPI

During last year's sweet sixteen matchup between Michigan and Kansas, Trey Burke banked an amazing three point shot from 30 ft to tie the game at 4.2 seconds. Michigan then won in overtime to finally lose in the finals to Louisville.  Trey Burke's amazing shot is my favorite sports moment because it came in a very clutch situation and it was from very far.  The factor that made this shot incredible was that he had a hand in the face when he shot which makes it very difficult to concentrate and yet he still got it in.

I have felt emotions once before when a sports moment happened last year in the Super Bowl when the Ravens won against the 49ers, my favorite team. I felt mad because they had worked really hard throughout the season to win to finally lose in the last game because of bad decisions and a lot of mistakes on the defence. Here is the link to watch his amazing shot !!!!

Off the Floor, On the Board

In game 6 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, one of hockey's greatest moments happened. With 13:44 remaining in the 2 period, Paul Kariya was blindsided by Scott Stevens. Kariya was motionless on the ice. Even though I did not see the game live or even the next day, just watching it caught my breath. They whole arena was holding its breath. Miraculously, he got up but with a lot of help. The Ducks best player was going to the hospital but Paul Kariya was not a person who let injuries get in his way of playing hockey. He came back and no one, including me could believe it. The announcer, John Davidson, was shocked even saying " I didn't think we'd see him till next year." Even Scott Stevens was dumbfounded. No one could believe he was back.

Five minutes after his return, Kariya got the puck and proceeded to blast one of hockey's greatest shots right by Martin Brodeur giving the Ducks a 4-1 lead. The arena went nuts. Announcer Gary Thorne gave one of hockey's greatest calls and quotes with his call "Off the Floor, On the Board" hence the title. It was a very emotional moment for him, his team and the crowd. This moment really caught me and it is something that will stay in my heart for a long time.

Here is a link to the video: History Gets Off the Floor Video

My favorite sport event is the Winter Classic Charles Thiboutot

The winter classic is an event which happens on January 1st. It is an event which is held by the national hockey league. It occurs around New Year's Day in which a regular hockey season game is played. This year the two teams are the first Canadian teams in five years that play. The teams are the Toronto Maple leafs against the Detroit red wings. I like this event because it is really typical to Quebec two NHL hockey teams against on an outdoor hockey rink you don't see this every day. I also went last year and even though it wasnt in Québec I felt like it were in my home town because everyone liked hockey overthere like here in Quebec. It shows how hockey is important to us and creating  a huge event for only one game demonstrates people are very into hockey.

The Importance of Education, Posted by Kate Guérard

Education is life. Without education, what are we? It is essential to the human race. Education isn't only for the elite or only for the less fortunate; it isn't only for certain classes of society or races. Whether you are young or old, it is essential. Everybody needs it to maintain their lives, their brains and their intellect. This privilege has always been exploited and will, unquestionably continue to be so for centuries to come. Education is the reason we are here at this very moment. It is tied to our present, past and future. It shapes our choices, thoughts and lifestyle. Education has shaped the life of today. It keeps on evolving as mankind evolves. It is an ongoing process and one that is impossible to stop.

King of Controversy (Written by: Vincent Angel-Despins)

Marshall Mathers is someone who changed the music insdustry. He has always been compared to Elvis Presley, since he is white but makes carreer in a mostly black industry. You may know him as Eminem or Slim Shady, to me he is the rapper of the 21st century. His rhymes are filled with metaphors and when he raps, it's as if the words don't control his lyrics, but that he is the one who controls the lyrics to suit him. Anyone can relate to him really, he has his good and bad days like anyone else and we can see through his words and the way he raps if he is filled with hate or enjoying life. I cannot name one song in particular, since I have 307 on my phone, but one that i have always loved is Stan. It is a song in which he exchanges letters with a fan, and this named his song, stalker-fan. Even though it isn't a happy song, it is worth listening to. The NE Patriots by William Comtois

The New England Patriot have a 5-1 streak and are placed first in the AFC East. They have suprised everybody due to the lost of 3 major players Wes Welker, Aron Hernendez and Rob Gronkowski. Wes has signed for the Denver Broncos , Aron has been arrested for murder and rob is suffering from a injury to the leg. But some outstanding rookies have proved their skills like Kenbrell Tompkins with over 4 touchdowns, and over 21 receptions this season. The Pats have proved the N.F.L wrong and football fans every where that they have to place their bets on no other teams  then the Patriots. To all the pats players keep up the great teamwork and to all the pats fans and supporters keep cheering!

Importance of gaming by Shawn Blackburn

While most people find that gaming is a waste of time what they don't see is it's importance. When children or teenagers play video game it stimulates the brain and gives them something to do. While playing war games it improves the persons reflexes. Other games which include puzzles helps the child figure things out. When playing with other people over the mic it also helps with socializing and teamwork. When small kids play Pokemon or other fantasy game it brings them to have a wider imagination. Wii, ps3, Xbox, all different types of consoles that are sold all over the world, these consoles brings a kind of fun that life can't offer us.

Racially Changing the World of Baseball - Neil Manek

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson was the first "negro" to play Major League Baseball. What blocked him and the other black baseball from playing Major League Baseball? Racism, was in their way. During the mid 20th century racism was still a huge part of everyday life, white people only zones, whites only took the city bus and white people only playing sports at a competitive level. This was definitely un fair since, there were as many blacks or if not more playing the sport.
Obviously, this was discrimination and hurt people. All the blacks wanted to do is play ball, not cause any harm at all. When Jackie Robinson joined the MLB, he never even thought about hurting a white, the whites hurt him in the locker room, on field, even wanted to kill him in his own shelter(not shown on the trailer, I saw the movie). The whites weren't able to accept the fact that blacks wanted to play ball, even though they were only human, not monster that could destroy everything.
As mentioned before, racism was a big thing during the mid 1900's. Life was just unfair. How do I feel today knowing that the whites were against the blacks? I feel it's wrong, completely wrong and unfair. We are all human beings no matter from where our background is from, none of us are born different than others. How would I feel if I lived during the mid 1900's instead of the 21st century? That life is completely unfair and wrong, that I don't deserve to live. I can only imagine what Jackie Robinson and his family and friends experienced during their times.

"How Fencing Works" by Jacob Dupuis

Many people believe that fencing is just a sport about hitting each other with swords, but in reality, it is much more complicated than that. First of all, there are three diferent kinds of fencing :Sabre, foil and epee. Sabre is the quickest one, in which you can hit with the blade and the point. You can hit anywhere above the waist except for the hand. The second kind is foil, in which you can only point. You can hit only a person chest. The final type is epee, in which you can only use the point, but there are no limitations on where you can hit. This is the type in which matches take the longest. Foil and sabre have a system in which the fencers can get advantages depending on what they do, for example: parrying (blocking) gives you the advantage, so if both fencers hit each other at the same time after, the one who parried gets the point. Epee fencing does not have this system so it is more of a game of hit without being hit, or BOTH peole get points. I hope this gave you insight on some of the rules of fencing.

My Favorite Music Genre By:Tommy Kilganon

My Favorite music genre is techno/dubstep because it tells a story without using any or few lyrics. Dubstep is a mix of sounds made from different things that some interpret turns into music. The main creators or the people that made it popular was Skrillex and Deadmou5. They made Dubstep the new thing by using it for trailer of movies or games. It is now very much known because many teens my age or older listen to it. Dubstep is very unique in its way to make a story, for example the song Cinema by Skrillex makes the sounds of every thing that can be found in movies. We can here dinosaur cries for dinosaur fiction movies, a whistle for the sports movies, piano for romantic movies, and the horror movie themes song to stress you out. My Favorite dubstep song is  Sweet by I.Y.F.F.E,Au5 and Auratic because you can make a story out of it. Some people think the story is about hell and what happens there. I think it talks about how life can be sweet as much it can be harsh.

"Gaming" By Damien Chi-D

Gaming is not entirely known for its healthiness. But in fact, gaming can be really helpful and can suit anyone that wants a try. Gaming is everything around consoles, computers, and nowadays phones. There are many games you can play. For example, if you are in a basketball team and you play basketball games, it could help you upgrade your tactics and team spirit. Games also increases your hand-eye coordination, which is helpful in life. Plus, as technology comes, more and more games are becoming interactive with your whole body, so you don't need to stay put to play games. Also, games are a very useful way to pass down history and information to people in a fun way. Every tastes will have a game they are looking for, if they try one.                                                                                                                                                  Damien Chicoine-Dugas

"Sports" by Jacob Poirier

My favourite sport moment is when it is the Super Bowl game. It is my favourite sporting time because it is where the two best football teams meet to declare who the best team is. The sporting event brings people together because everyone likes the same team so they cheer together. The people have that in common so they do it together. When I was playing football in sec 2 and we lost in the series and our season was over because of our lost. I was sad because I wanted to continue playing and having fun. I was also mad because some people didn't do there job.

"Robinson" by Lydia Lelievre

Differences do not matter. They are what makes every single one of us a unique individual. Since Robinson was the first Afro-American to ever play in Major League Baseball made him a very important figure in society because it ended once and for all racial segregation. However, racism did not end that easily. Robinson had to go through many racial discrimination which sometimes made him a very depress person however he never gave up. Discrimination can hurt someone's feelings very badly. No one should ever go through what Robinson went through since everybody in this world has right; to live freely and be who they truly are no matter if they are Black, White or Beige. We are not in the 60's anymore and racism is not welcome in any modern society. We, as humanity, have rights!

"Discrimination" by Katherine DeMond

Discrimination is making a distinction for or against someone based on gender, age, race, or religion. Discrimination hurts people by making them feel out of place or not welcome. When people are discriminated against in the work place, they may not be able to apply for certain jobs or get less pay then other people. Certain races were discriminated in schools because it was believed that people that were not white, were not as smart and were treated like they were dumb. Different races even had to go to separate schools than white people, as well as stores, fountains, restaurants, and they had to stand on the bus. The only time where I saw someone being discriminated against was when a boy at my elementary school had a reputation of being bad, so whenever anything bad happened, the  teachers would always look at him, even if it wasn't him, he was always under suspicion. This probably made him feel hurt, and a little annoyed too because it wasn't always him, and some people would purposely do something because they knew that they would get this one boy in trouble. This probably made him think that if that's what people think of me, and that I get into trouble without even doing something wrong, why try to be good? This is why we should not have stereotypes because people will just stop trying to be better if we automatically assume that they are the guilty ones.
