Fight Night at the Joe

In Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche, Claude Lemieux of the Avalanche hit Kris Draper from behind into the boards. Draper suffered a concussion, broken jaw, broken nose and a broken cheekbone. When I rewatch this hit, it makes me sick to my stomach. I find it to be one of the dirtiest things to do in the NHL. Because of this  hit, it caused a bitter rivalry between the two teams.

On March 26 the next season, Igor Larionov of the Red Wings got into a scrum with Peter Forsberg which gave tough guy Darren McCarthy a chance to strike back on Lemieux. He threw Lemieux and started a melee of punches before the linesmen could intervene. After the game, Darren McCarthy told reporters, "Hockey players have long memories". As I also watch this, i cheer every time I watch it. It excited me every time to see them brawl and its something I always love watching.
